2) 42 Division – Crime Updates

Issue: Vehicle Jackings - Arrest

Action: Very recently seen a spike in vehicle jackings where victims are approached by suspects making demands for keys. HUS (YRP, PEEL, HALTON, TPS) / 42 MCU investigating. Numerous groups have been arrested

Issue: Catalytic converters – seeing an uptick in catalytic converter thefts targeting commercial vehicles left in industrial lots overnight.

Action: Areas and times have been identified – working with PC Lenchuck to protect targeted vehicles / upgrade lighting and cameras.

Issue: Taxi Frauds – members are typically working in pairs using a fake debit machine to record victim's PIN. Once this is collected, victim's card is swapped out for a similar one and fraudulent transactions are incurred.

Action: Suspect descriptions and areas of concern are being collected to build an MO. Crime prevention strategies are being created/disseminated.
